shanti stupa

The 'World Peace or Shanti Stupa  is located on the Peak of Anandu Mountain in Pumdi Bhumdi VDC, Kaski, Pokhara. The Stupa lies at 21 hundred feet above sea level and is about 7 kilometres from the Prithvi Highway. It
Located on the peak it stands as a beacon of peace and can be seen from every corner of the Pokhara valley. Shanti Stupa is the only stupa in Pokhara located at such a great height.

Construction of the Stupa first began in 1973 but, a year later, owing to some difficulties in construction it was stopped for some time. After the restoration of democracy in the country construction work was again in full swing. Eventually, after ten years, this Stupa was completed on November 5, 1999.
The stupa itself covers 100 metres and its height is 11 metres. The stupa has been painted white because it is the colour and symbol of peace, therefore the name is also Peace Stupa.
On the pinnacle of the stupa a golden cupola is mounted that is visible from a long distance. Among others, four majestic statues of the Buddha are placed at the four compass points and are most eye-catching.
The southern statue was installed through the collective efforts of Buddhist devotees of Nepal. The Buddha's statue on the west was brought from Sri Lanka, while the one on the north was brought from Thailand.

Myogoji has also built Nepal's biggest stupa in Lumbini, birthplace of Buddha, famous for its enormous size and beautiful features.  So far Myogoji has managed to construct 90 grandiose stupas in different parts of the world.
As Gandaki zone has a huge population of Buddhists this is probably why so many Buddhist monasteries are built in and around Pokhara.  Buddhism has also grown enormously popular in the west and many westerners have become followers and are naturally attracted to these beautiful monasteries and stupas. Every stupa is beautifully decorated in a variety of colours. thus, the world famous stupa is the most peaceful place in the world.so,people should have to visit shanti stupa so that they feel sense of peace and love among people.
